Priscilla launches a new section in the well known music webzine Popchild.
Con la reseña del disco de Priscilla se lanza una nueva sección en la webzine Popchild para las músicas globales.

Dado a la multitud de lenguajes musicales por explorar, desde Popchild
abrimos un nuevo apartado dedicado a todos esos estilos globales que
abarcan un gran número de seguidores y que vale la pena también
resaltar. Tratando siempre de apostar por las nuevas formaciones y
solistas, seguimos indagando en las nuevas propuestas que se alzan y
que empiezan a dar sus primeros pasos, acercando de ese modo a nuestros
lectores, un abanico más amplio de posibilidades, nuevos sonidos que es
interesante ir descubriendo.
MUSICAS GLOBALES EN POPCHILD

Inauguraremos la sección con Priscilla Hernández, cantautora de gótico-etéreo e ilustradora de arte fantástico canaria residente en Barcelona, nominada en Los Angeles Music Awards a mejor cantante new age, y ganadora del premio IMA (Independent music awards) a mejor álbum new age. Priscilla nos devuelve a los sonidos más etéreos con su disco "Ancient Shadows", que viene a recordarnos nombes como Enya o Kate Bush, y del que caben destacar temas como "Facing The Dream Op", "Nightmare" o "I steal the leaves",
que además podemos encontrar a través de su página en Myspace. A su
vez, iniciará en breve una serie de conciertos que le llevará a tocar
en ciudades como Eugene, Oregon, y en festivales como el Three Faery
wishes festival de Cornwall (EEUU) o el festival de ciencia ficción y
fantasía "Mallorca Fantástica". Una interesante propuesta para los
amantes de los sonidos góticos y las voces cristalinas.

Se fosse un libro Priscilla Hernandez sarebbe di genere Fantasy. Le sue canzoni sono piene di storie di fate, fantasmi, corvi e case vittoriane. Il tutto arrangiato con grande profusione di flauti e sintetizzatori. 'Un mix perfetto di New Age e Gothic' come ha già scritto qualcuno. Di oscuro, in verità , c'è ben poco nelle canzoni di Priscilla. A parte forse le immagini nel doppio libretto del cd che la ritraggono vestita come uan regina del mondo della notte. Anche se l'effetto è quello di una Tori Amos vestita per la festa di Halloween ("Ancient Shadow: Sombra Antigua"). E' indubbio che la giovane fata spagnola abbia registrato un disco di forte impatto melodico, con tutte le attenzioni che faranno la gioia di chi apprezza Enya e Loreena McKennit.

Priscilla Hernandez "Ancient Shadows" Soooooo sweet!!! Priscilla's music is an excellent blend of gothic, new-age, folk-fairy music, and darkwave. The thing that will sell this recording is the fantastic vocal work. It might be easy to make comparisons to artists like Enya and Loreena mckennitt. She has a very sweet and magical way of coming across. Her voice makes it easy to enjoy the day and relax. Thats not to say that everything is all roses. There's also a little bit of a stormy, Tori Amos kind of aspect to this music. Though the melody is always passive, and the charming singing is always pleasant, there is a darker side. There are all kinds of fantasy themes to these songs, and this includes scary ghost talles. That brings up a whole other issue...The co-existing ethereal and "down-to-earth" qualities of the songs. Parts of this make me feel like a comfortable chair, other parts are strange and otherworldly. There is a folky, old-world quality that makes you want to trust this music, but something unknown just triggers the intuition. This might be nice music for quiet times, probably even better for rainy, stormy, dark quiet times. I wouldn't be ashamed to have a mug of herbal tea and mellow out ot these classy tunes.

P. Hernandez is a Spanish singer, composer and fantasy illustrator who has just released her official debut-cd. The package consists of a very artistic digipak including 2 illustrated booklets. The artists brings the listener in a world of fantasy and fairy tales guided by her ethereal music and angelic vocals. “Ancient shadows” sounds like a caress or the first breeze in Spring. The music is full of delicacy, refinement and poetry. The use of piano and other instruments like flute and cello create this delicate song writing, but injects an authentic feeling as well. The song “Call of the Nymph” caught my attention for the more mystical expression. Another song I want to mention is called “The voice of the night”, which sounds really tender and serene. “Ancient shadows” is a collection of songs that Priscilla has composed during the past years (recorded by the help of a few guest musicians) giving the listener a feeling of joy and wellness! This is for sure the bride sight of gothic coming from the hands of a good-looking and talented artist! www.yidneth.com

Priscilla Hernández: Ancient Shadows

El primer disco de Priscilla Hernández es un recorrido por un mundo mágico de claroscuros. Ha tardado un poco más de lo esperado en ver la luz, pero ha merecido la pena: se notan las horas de esfuerzos y el mimo con que se han cuidado todos y cada uno de los detalles.

La historia del fantasma y del hada nos atrapa desde la primera nota en un recorrido por las luces y las sombras de un mundo de fantasía, a menudo contradictorio, pero siempre sorprendente.

Encaramos el sueño con un ambiente misterioso, un halo que nos acompañará todo el álbum, como si nos sumergiéramos en un lago de quietas aguas para agitar nuestro interior, y entonces la música fluye, nos rescata y la voz de Priscilla

ilumina la escena.

Melodías suaves, voces susurrantes y muchos matices que se escurren entre nuestros dedos hasta que volvemos a escuchar con atención. Un piano, unas flautas, un cello...
Algunos la han denominado voz angelical, otros etéreo-gótica. Son maneras de intentar describir lo indefinido.

El diseño de los libretos, el concepto del álbum, las ilustraciones, el esmero en explicar las letras de las canciones, todo indica que no se ha dejado nada al azar; estamos ante una forma de arte que trasciende lo meramente musical para abarcar un concepto más amplio que cobra sentido cuando nos dejamos zambullir en este mundo de fantasía.

Se suceden los temas, cambian los ambientes, el ritmo se acelera... Se detiene. Son 19 temas que forman parte de una vida y en los que Priscilla ha puesto muchas ilusiones. Y eso se nota.

'Ancient Shadows' es un disco atípico por varios motivos: no es new age, ni gótico, ni celta, ni nada claramente específico que lo enmarque. Y quizás esa sea una de sus grandes virtudes, aunque por otro lado tal vez peque de exceso de personalidad, algo totalmente lógico teniendo en cuenta que se trata del primer CD de un artista.

Yo añadiría un poco más de energía: unas guitarras más acentuadas, un bajo más marcado, lo llenaría de cuerdas... Pero entonces tal vez ya no estaríamos hablando de 'Ancient Shadows'.
